DEFINITION OF ADOLESCENCE
Adolescence is the ideal time to correct poor dental positions, since from the age of 12 the greatest growth and development of the jaws starts and it’s when we will have the permanent teeth in the mouth.
For this reason, the types of orthodontic treatments in adolescents are different from the treatments that are carried out early in children.
There are different braces and orthodontic devices to perform corrections, whether fixed or removable.
Among the fixed appliances, we have transparent ceramic brackets and conventional metal brackets, depending on the patient’s decision.
In regard to removable braces, we have found Invisalign Teen. It consists of removable transparent aligners that are practically invisible. This treatment follows the same technique as the Invisalign aligners for adults but incorporates special characteristics to adapt them to the activity and lifestyle of adolescents and thus guarantee the success of the treatment.
