Keys to brush your teeth in the right way

You may have been brushing your teeth in the wrong way  or  you have been not using the adequate toothbrush, you may not reach all the  areas. You have to use enough time, not less than 2 minutes, to get the best dental hygiene. Please follow this advice offered by Dr. David Huertas of Institut Ortodòncia Barcelona,  from now on, brushing your teeth will be in the most efficient way.

KEEP CLEAN YOUR TOOTHBRUSH

Think of your toothbrush as a cleaning tool, you must keep it clean  washing it after each use and dry outdoors away from any type of material that may contaminate it. Avoid leaving your toothbrush in a glass over the sink, it will be exposed to millions of bacteria and unpleasant particles.

CHOOSE A GOOD TOOTHBRUSH

In the drugstore, you can find a wide range of manual and electric toothbrushes with different hardness, shape and size.  The American Dental Association advise us that we should use a soft toothbrush, of a size suitable for our mouth and facilitate us to reach all areas.

Dr. David Huertas recommends you to change your toothbrush every 3 or 4 months, even sooner if it bristles are broken or damaged.

THE BEST METHOD TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH

On top you must achieve the best brushing technique and have a good toothbrush and toothpaste. First, we apply a small amount of toothpaste on the brush, place it on the teeth trying to form an angle of 45° with the gums. We start brushing the front teeth, repeating the same process for the back, non-visible area of the teeth, we continue brushing the area with which we chew, always from behind to forward, covering small areas.
Well to brush the back of the incisors, the direction of the toothbrush must be vertical and moving the brush up and down. To maintain a fresh breath and remove all bacteria you also need to brush your tongue and floss at least once a day.

THE BEST TOOTHPASTE

It is important that you consider that not all toothpastes are the same, you will find the dentifrice that suits best at your age and the needs of the health of your mouth. But what is the most appropriate? For having a good breath and healthy teeth Dr. David Huertas recommends always use a toothpaste containing fluoride and calcium for 6 year old children and older. If you suffer from tooth sensitivity choose a suitable toothpaste to help you minimize discomfort.

BRUSH YOUR TEETH 2 MINUTES, 3 TIMES A DAY!

For lack of time, laziness or hurry, we do not dedicate the time necessary to achieve good oral cleaning. The duration of brushing and the method used are the main keys to an efficient and success toothbrush for a correct dental health. Dr. David Huertas tells us that if we want to have a nice smile, you must  brush your teeth not less than two minutes, three times a day after each meal.
